Business Unit Manager to a leading manufacturer of pet nutraceuticals

VetPlus is a leading manufacturer of premium pet nutraceuticals and is well-established in several markets, and they are now entering the Scandinavian market and selected markets in Eastern Europe. The products will be marketed through a distribution network, and to build and develop this, VetPlus offers a sales professional with knowledge of the veterinarian or pharmaceutical industry a unique opportunity.

We are not looking for a Sales Executive with long sales experience, but rather you, who want to further develop your sales skills and use your strong ability to establish relations, use your personal interest in pets/animals, and your ability to provide high-level consultancy.

The role is working out of a home office in Denmark and will cover Scandinavia, and Ukraine, Latvia and Belarus, and with direct report to the Regional Manager for Europe, who is situated in the UK. Thus, your scope of influence and responsibility is extensive. 3-4 days travelling weekly must be expected.

Build distribution networks across the region and promote premium pet nutraceuticals

The role as Business Unit Manager will be responsible for building distribution networks and promoting the products to veterinarians and vet clinics in the region. The primary goal is to deliver on the agreed business plan and to identify new business opportunities through working with existing distributors and opening new markets, and with an estimated 50-50 split. It is expected that you can develop close relationships with key customers, opinion leaders, business managers and decision-makers in each market. Some of the responsibilities include:

  • Provide regular sales training, support and help to their annual business plan to all VetPlus distributors and provide “help desk support” via telephone and e-mail.
  • Participate at key international veterinary shows and congresses and organize and manage the VetPlus stands at vet congresses in new markets each year.
  • Coordinate and implement international technical and marketing activities.
  • Organize the Product Champion and Regional Training meetings.
  • Ensure efficient management reporting incl. activities, plans and other issues.
  • Participate in the VetPlus management team, help identify and develop new product opportunities and share best practice with colleagues.

Experienced sales profile with outset in the pharmaceutical/regulated/veterinarian industry

The preferred profile has academic credentials on bachelor or master’s level within science or business administration or strong experience from industries such as pharma, nutraceuticals or veterinary. You have sales experience, and preferably experience from building partner- and sales channels. In your work, you demonstrate analytical skills, a good understanding of financial numbers and performance reporting and are used to write effective and useful management reports. As you are exposed to an international environment, you have cultural empathy and can communicate fluently in English and with good proficiency in the Scandinavian languages.  Of course, you have excellent skills in working with MS Office tools.
