Country Manager for Norway – Abacus Medicine, Copenhagen

To a newly established role, to head sales and market development in Norway, Abacus Medicine is looking for an ambitious individual with a few years’ experience from price setting, trading, and/or tender management, and who wants to work with business development. Together with a couple of Student Assistants, you will build and manage sales in Norway by developing and deploying sales strategies as well as managing operational and administrative tasks related to sales. You will work out of Abacus Medicine’s headquarter in Copenhagen.

Abacus Medicine was founded in Denmark in 2004 with a vision to improve global healthcare through better access to medicine and is now among the market leaders in the European parallel import (PI) industry. Abacus Medicine holds over 8,000 product licenses, with more added every day, and each year customers receive more than 1,500,000 packs of prescription medicine. Abacus Medicine operates in a highly competitive market, where PI can be compared to the trading industry, where there is a need to constantly be on top of tenders, pricing, and customers.

Abacus Medicine has a strategy to invest more resources in developing the Norwegian market that has a strong potential. Today, there is already some existing business, and opportunities for much more. The type of business is similar to tender management and trading, which means that analytical skills, a nose for price setting, and being in the right place at the right moment, are the most important skills.

The Nordic sales team works out of the headquarters in Copenhagen, which means that you will be close to your fellow colleagues that are responsible for the individual countries. You will report to a Nordic Sales Director and will have 2 Student Assistants to support with some tasks.

We are looking for you, who are in the beginning of your career and with at least 2 years’ experience from a dynamic sales or trading environment, where you have worked with pricing, analyses, and proposals or tenders. You are eager to develop and feel confident to take on an individual responsibility for a market.

Business development, sales, and portfolio management

As Country Manager for Norway, you will be responsible for ensuring that Abacus Medicine is in the right place at the right time, and with the right pricing. Besides having P/L responsibility, managing private pharmacy customers, wholesale customers, and hospitals, you will also be responsible for:

  • Developing, implementing, and executing a the Go-to-Market strategy for sales in the PI segment.
  • Managing the inventory, trading risk, pricing, and portfolio management of the product portfolio.
  • Developing and following-up on budgeting as well as financial performance, and hereunder having ownership of various optimizations related to the market activities.
  • Actively engaging in and developing customer relationships with various customers.

For the right profile, an opportunity to grow your business and management skills

We expect you to have a good understanding of how markets can fluctuate and how important timing and pricing can be. You are self-driven and analytical, while also being able to coordinate, structure and prioritize simultaneous tasks without losing the strategic perspective. You are proactive, independent, and take ownership – not only for revenue but also for achieving strong profit margins. This engagement affects your surroundings to be equally dedicated. Your communication is clear and convincing, where you communicate to the point. When competitors win, you see this as an opportunity to learn from the mistakes and get it right the next time, and you are comfortable in a dynamic and agile environment.

Professionally, you have experience from another trading setting, where analyses, pricing, tenders and negotiations have been important tasks, and where you have worked with all or some of these tasks. Additionally, you have experience in the following:

  • A relevant master’s degree within Economics, Finance and/or Accounting.
  • Native speaker of or highly fluent in Norwegian, and with understanding of the Scandinavian languages.
  • Full proficiency in both written and verbal English.
  • Experience from working with pharmaceutical products is an advantage, but not a requirement.

Why to join

You will join a strong and empowering culture that values initiative and ownership. You will also experience a culture and a team with a positive and supporting approach, and where cross-unit collaboration is key for success. And then it does not hurt, you – every day – will enjoy one of the most splendid views in town, by the water at Kalvebod Brygge. In total, approx. 260 colleagues work out of the headquarters in Copenhagen, and they have access to a variety of formal and informal activities e.g., Running Club, Football Team, free workout classes and social events.
