To head sales and market development in Sweden, Abacus Medicine is looking for an ambitious individual with experience in price setting, trading, tender management, and negotiation, and who wants to work in the healthcare business and head country sales. Together with your team, you will manage sales in Sweden developing and deploying go-to-market and account strategies, and you will do this together with an dedicated team, all located in Copenhagen.

Abacus Medicine was founded in Denmark in 2004 with a vision to improve global healthcare through better access to medicine and is now among the market leaders in the European parallel import (PI) industry. Abacus Medicine operates in a highly competitive market, where PI can be compared to the trading industry, where there is a need to constantly be on top of tenders, pricing, and customers.

Almost since the beginning, Abacus Medicine has operated in Sweden and is well-established and with valuable market insights. The Nordic sales team works out of the headquarters in Copenhagen, which means that you will be close to your fellow colleagues that are responsible for the individual countries. You will report to a Nordic Sales Director and will lead 3 fulltime FTEs and student assistants.

We do not necessarily look for a Country Manager with long seniority, but we are looking for one with strong skills in  in market analyses, trading, price setting, and tender management, and one who has touched upon people management and has a desire to develop in this. Finally, and perhaps most importantly, better access to healthcare is close to your heart.

Business development, sales, and portfolio management

As Country Manager for Sweden, you will be responsible for ensuring that Abacus Medicine is in the right place at the right time, and with the right pricing. Besides heading a dedicated team, having P/L responsibility, managing private pharmacy customers, you will also be responsible for:

  • Developing, implementing, and executing a the Go-to-Market strategy for sales in the PI segment.
  • Managing the inventory, trading risk, pricing, and portfolio management of the product portfolio.
  • Developing and following-up on budgeting as well as financial performance, and hereunder having ownership of various optimizations related to the market activities.
  • Actively engaging in and developing customer relationships with Swedish pharmacy customers.
  • Managing and developing relations with stakeholders in and outside of the commercial organization as well as externally towards politically, regulatory and/or commercial stakeholders in Sweden.

For the right profile, an opportunity to use your business and trading experience in healthcare

We expect you to have strong understanding of how markets can fluctuate and how important timing and pricing can be. You are self-driven and analytical, while also being able to coordinate, structure and prioritize simultaneous tasks without losing the strategic perspective. You are proactive, independent, and take ownership – not only for revenue but also for achieving strong profit margins. This engagement affects your team to be equally dedicated. Your communication is clear and convincing, where you communicate to the point. Towards your team, it is natural for yout to share knowledge and genuinely be interested in making a team shine. When competitors win, you see this as an opportunity to learn from the mistakes and get it right the next time, and you are comfortable in a dynamic and agile environment.

Professionally, it is an advantage with experience from working with PI, but otherwise, you can have experience from another trading setting, where analyses, pricing, tenders and negotiations have been important tasks. Additionally, you have experience in the following:

  • A relevant master’s degree within Economics, Finance and/or Accounting.
  • Native speaker of or highly fluent in Swedish, and with understanding of the Scandinavian languages.
  • Full proficiency in both written and verbal English.
  • Either direct people management experience, or experience as a teamlead or leading projects.
  • Experience from working with pharmaceutical products is an advantage, but not a requirement.

Why to join

You will join a strong and empowering culture that values initiative and ownership. You will also experience a culture and a team with a positive and supporting approach, and where cross-unit collaboration is key for success. And then it does not hurt, you – every day – will enjoy one of the most splendid views in town, by the water at Kalvebod Brygge.
