Head of Enterprise Architecture at BEC Financial Technologies

BEC is at an interesting place, where they are moving towards Cloud solutions and away from Mainframe to enable and be ready for new ways of doing banking in Denmark. This is a challenging transformation of both organization and tech solutions, and where you will be a key player in further developing an engineering culture at BEC.


The position is based in Roskilde.


About Enterprise Architecture


Architecture at BEC, with a total of 51 FTEs and headed by CTO Niels Bjørkøe to whom you will report, covers following areas: Architecture Management, Enterprise Architecture, Domain & Program Architecture and Enterprise Data Management. The Enterprise Architecture team with 15 FTEs consists of 2 Managers that are responsible for EA Strategy & Transformation, and EA Architecture, and you will directly manage Enterprise Architecture Management. Your team is skilled, passionate about Architectural design and strategies making a difference to the business.

  • Maturity assessment
  • Technology recommendation
  • Support and set 3-year strategy and priorities
  • Reference architecture
  • Architecture knowledge
  • Architecture Design Authority


Leadership and architectural strategic design and plans


With the title as Area Director for Enterprise Architecture, you will be a strong driver in and set the architectural strategies that can support the tech transformation and development programs. In other words, you define, design and update the vision and make the plans for EA. You will get the necessary mandate and are supported by the Top Management in ensuring that BEC has the right architectural roadmap, and your decisions will have an enormous impact on the entire organization and the customers.


In the role, you will work closely with a wide range of internal stakeholders, not least Development Directors in the 2 divisions; Infrastructure & Business Optimization and Customer & Business Transformation. Externally, you will collaborate with the customers’ IT organizations. Your primary tasks and responsibilities will include:  


  • Create and maintain the future ambition and target state of BEC’s overall architecture, covering both business and technology
  • Define and drive strategy development for BEC’s EA and platforms ​through architectural guidelines
  • Make sure that guidelines, standards, and principles are communicated to all areas
  • Build high performing teams, define team mission, make performance reviews, and set the standards for deliverables
  • Secure a customer-centric focus, while at the same time ensure that needs and changes are alighned with BEC’s long-term strategy for architecture
  • Ensure solutions are scalable and flexible to enable future growth


An EA Executive, with experience from banking, and passion for making a difference


We hope, you are curious and committed to new technologies, Cloud, and IT strategy, combined with a distinct ability to create structures, identify patterns, and define frameworks. You are excellent in stakeholder management, and with just the right amount of flexibility and conviction, when it comes to making decisions about business needs and deviations from standards. You dare to challenge traditions and seek to establish a common ground of understanding.


In your team, you can set the direction, demonstrate leadership and engage highly experienced specialists in taking ownership and keep them motivated. You consider yourself to be a role model – leading by example – and only dive deep when it is necessary to guide others. Your professional experience includes strong experience from a similar role in a large complex architectural landscape, including experience leading a team within IT architecture. You have specific experience from designing and working with EA from a corporate strategic perspective, and you have some or all of your experience from banking. Your technical foundation is strong enough to guide architecture, development, and business teams to ensure successful transformation.


With colleagues and stakeholders distributed across Denmark and Poland, you must master English and Danish at a high level both in writing and orally.
